It has been a few days since I read the book "The Great Mortality : An Intimate History of the Black Death, the Most Devastating Plague of All Time" by John Kelly. I also listened to the audiobook version. It was a very good book about the Black Death in Europe. It tells the story of how people in the Middle Ages (1300s) dealt with this terrible disease. They had no idea what caused it and they had no cure for it.
The past is the most interesting thing to read about. Many people are very interested about why, how, when and where it happened. I love reading about the past but, I am very glad I am not living in it. I will give you an example of why I say that. I read a lot of history books and am fascinated by it. I like to read the biography of inspirational people like this book about Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson. There are two reasons that I love reading about the past: 1. I want to know how the world has evolved and how people lived, worked, and played in the past. 2. I like to see how much progress man has made since the beginning of time. Current thinking is that the Roman invasion is a myth! Apparently they wre here by invitation. History is an important thing. It keeps you from repeating mistakes. It also shows you the possibilities of life. There is nothing new under the sun, but there are different ways to view life and how we got to where we are today. I am glad that I am not living in the past and I do not want to live in the past. I love reading about the past but, I am very glad I am not living in it. There is nothing to compare with modern technology and the luxury of today. There is also the comfort of knowing that your life will be safer and you will be healthier because of modern technology. You may have heard once or twice before that the past is the best predictor of future events. When you examine the past (history), you can be sure that the future will be quite similar. If you were able to find a way to travel back in time, you could walk through any major city and observe the daily routine of its people. The same is true for modern day life with the exception of more advanced technology and amenities. Afghanistan is a war-torn country and, it seems, this situation has existed for years. Ever since I was a child, I’ve been fascinated by the past. I love reading about the past – learning about historical events and famous people, going to museums, or watching historical movies on TV. I’ve always felt that if you understand the past then you’ll have a better understanding of why things are today. The best way to predict the future is to create it. It’s a philosophy that’s driven everything from the rise of smartphones to the Internet of Things. Instead of just talking about trends and the future, it’s useful to go back and study history, to learn from our predecessors. In this article, we share some of our favorite past-focused blogs. History is much more than a list of names and dates to me. The study of history teaches us critical skills for survival in the modern world. History not only provides us with a record of the past, but also gives us a context for understanding our present and forms a baseline for any future predictions about the future. While it’s great to look forward and anticipate the future, it can be equally as enlightening to look back at the past. One of my favorite books, Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind by Yuval Noah Harari, is about exactly that. In it, Harari explains how Homo Sapiens managed to dominate the planet for a relatively short time period when compared to some of our predecessors (up until now). The past is a destination that we can never travel to. We can only read about it in books and share experiences with those that lived it. The ‘past’ is important for us to understand how we got to where we are today. Here are the top 10 history books you must read if you love reading about the past. past life vs now https://steemit.com/life/@the.big/the-difference-between-past-and-present-life
